Well, the cosplay Satanists of The Satanic Temple are up to their old tricks again. TST members are preparing for their second annual SatanCon convention in Boston, Massachusetts. Organizers expect over 800 eager attendees, according to 90.9 FM, WBUR Boston.
TST SatanCon 2023 will be in downtown Boston at the Marriott Copley Place, Massachusetts, from April 28th to April 30th, 2023. According to TST, Attendees can look forward to lectures and panels, music, and a Satanic Marketplace.
Why Boston, specifically? Well, in 2021, members of the Satanic Temple reportedly requested on three separate occasions to deliver an opening invocation at Boston City Council meetings. They were denied on the grounds that, though City council members are authorized to select guests to perform opening prayers, outside requests are not accepted. Holding SatanCon in Boston seems to be TST’s way of applying added pressure on the city in an attempt to achieve its goals.
Predictably, Christian objectors are already planning to protest the event. According to The Christian Post, “…hundreds of believers from several denominations will come together in unity, not to pray the event away, but instead pray for revival to break out amongst the attendees in Jesus’ name.” (Law, 2023)
We at Devil’s Mark Ministries find this a little ironic, as the Satanic Temple is a progressive political organization that doesn’t actually believe in the Devil and only uses the symbolism to generate outrage and promote their political and social agenda. Meanwhile, real Devil Worshippers will also be holding an event during this period, completely unnoticed by Christian protesters. We wonder if their god is aware of this.
